June Vacation Chap 9.2 RATE (L2) A Twist to the Red Riding Hood Adventure

Read the following short story... you will be able to find descriptions related to RATE...

Once upon a time, there was a little girl who lived in a village near the forest. Whenever she went out, the little girl wore a red riding cloak, so everyone in the village called her Little Red Riding Hood.

One morning, Little Red Riding Hood asked her mother if she could go to visit her grandmother as it had been a while since they'd seen each other.

"That's a good idea," her mother said. "We usually visit grandma twice a month. However, because of common tests, you have not visited Grandma this month! She would be upset if she doesn't see you soon!"

Based on what you understand about the term "rate", you will now continue to build the story from where the last person has commented... Everyone will contribute to one part of this Marathon Story. Your part of the story should have at least one description related to to RATE.

  1. Red Riding Hood decided to bake Grandma some of her favourite muffins before dusk sets to see her. Red Riding Hood had to hurry to bake the muffins because it was almost dark. She thus baked the muffins at a rate of 9 muffins per hour, and decided to bake 18 muffins for Grandma.

  2. Seeing that she will not reach her Grandma's house in time if she walked, Red Riding Hood decided to ride her horse to Grandma's house. Her horse is an American Quarter Horse, so it can reach speeds of 55 miles per hour.

  3. As Red Riding Hood rode to Grandma's house, she had to wait in line at a toll booth for what seemed like an eternity. After a while, she looked at her watch and frowned. She would never be able to make it to Grandma's house on time! The toll booth, she noticed, only cleared 5 people an hour - and there were still 17 people ahead of her.

  4. After clearing the toll booth it was too dark to ride her horse. She then decided to wait for a while to see if any car passes by. She finally got on a truck which travelled at a speed of 110 miles per hour. She placed her horse at the back of the truck.

  5. During the ride, the truck broke down, leading her to ride her horse. Unfortunately, her horse was too tired and refused to move, forcing her to stay overnight till it recovers. The next day, it galloped for 3 hours at a speed of 30 miles per hour to the stables 90km away from her home. She still had to finish walking a 90 km. A long journey awaits.

  8. After the tiring walk up the hill, she finally reached the top of the hill. She rested at the top of the hill until the next day. After the good sleep, she continued on feet for another 10km from 10am to 8pm at a speed of 1km an hour.

  9. Red Riding Hood was going to her grandmother's house, but she decided to pick some flowers on the way. So, she passed by a garden and picked a total of 150 flowers for her grandmother in 2 hours.

  11. Suddenly, she felt a strong gust of wind. She looked up and saw rain clouds signaling the coming of rain. She began to run to the nearest shelter she could find when a light drizzle came. She picked up her pace to 5km per hour.

  13. Red Riding Hood was taking a bus to her grandmother house,the bus was travelling on an average speed of 50km/h.The distance between her grandmother house and her house is 40Km,so Red Riding Hood took 48 minutes of bus ride to her grandmother house.

  14. Red Riding Hood fell down and hurt herself so she had to limp to her grandmother's house at 2km/h. The distance from her fall to her grandmother's house was 20km so she took 2 hours to reach the house

  15. Halfway into the journey, Red Riding Hood spotted some blueberries and picked them to go into her basket. There were 20 blueberries, and she picked them all in 5 minutes.

  16. Red Riding Hood decided to bake a chocolate cookies and muffins for grandma. she baked 4 muffins/hour and 10 cookies/hour and she decided to make 8 muffins and 20 cookies for grandma. she normally traveled 50m/min but as it was getting dark she had to travel 2 times faster in 100m/min.

  17. Red Riding Hood was walking along the forest on the way to her grandma's house. She saw a bouquet of 12 beautiful flowers and dedided to take it for her grandma.

  20. Skipping along the way, she met a magical grey wolf which, could magically talk. "Want a candy?" It asked Little Red Riding Hood. "Nope, I'm off to dinner at my Grandma's." "So, It seems that I have got to do this the hard way." The wolf said then, the wolf suddenly took a swipe at Little Red Riding Hood but it didn't managed to catch her as she speed away towards her Grandma's house at 60km/h.

  21. But the wolf was did not want to lose little red riding hood. So he sped towards her at 70 km/h. So as to be able to catch up to her.

  22. Red Riding Hood saw a bicycle leaning on a tree. She rode it and sped away at 80km/h. About 10 minutes later, the wolf was nowhere to be seen. So, Red Riding Hood decided to rest for 3 minutes under a tree, after being chased by a 'magical' wolf.
